Helping you at home

What is Domiciliary Care?

Domiciliary care is a type of social care that is provided in the patient’s own home rather than in a hospital or care home. It can be used to support people of all ages who have a disability, or illness, or are simply struggling to cope with the tasks of daily living

Services

Wide range of support

At Canna Care we provide a wide range of support with the domiciliary care package, depending on the needs of the patient. These services can include help with personal care such as washing, dressing, and continent needs; domestic tasks such as cooking, cleaning, and laundry; and social activities such as shopping and attending appointments. We can also take clients to place of their choice which is of interest to them such as going to watch football, bowling, going to cinemas, etc.

For elderly and vulnerable people, domiciliary care can be a lifeline. Knowing that someone will be coming to visit them on a regular basis brings comfort and a sense of safety. Every day our carers provide that care and lifeline for residents across the North of England.

We can also offer more specialised support such as palliative care, dementia care, and after-hospital care. this is coupled with the popular respite care service packages for family members who need a break from caring

There are many benefits to receiving domiciliary care at home rather than in a healthcare setting. These benefits include

  • Continuity of care – patients will receive the same level of care from the same caregiver each time, which helps to build trust and rapport
  • Independence – receiving domiciliary care at home helps patients to maintain their independence for longer
  • Dignity – patients are able to receive intimate personal care in the privacy of their own homes
  • Comfort – being in familiar surroundings can help to reduce stress levels and make patients feel more comfortable; and
  • Tailored support – because domiciliary care is provided on an individual basis, it can be tailored specifically to meet the needs of each patient

The companionship that our care assistants provide can also be incredibly beneficial for mental health, as they offer encouragement and reassurance. They are also trained in delivering the physical aspects of care, so you can rest assured that your loved one will be well looked after.
